Reducing compressed air consumptions with BETE SpiralAir
A forward-thinking steel manufacturer faced issues with high costs due to excessive use of compressed air, which was resolved through the implementation of the BETE SpiralAir. By using the BETE SpiralAir with its high flow rate and introducing a new spray system, efficiency within the process was significantly improved. This has led to substantial annual savings in compressed air costs.
Why BETE SpiralAir?
Cooling the exhaust gases from an electric arc furnace is crucial for a steel plant to control the gas temperature. When the gas passes through the filter house, it must, of course, be fire-safe. However, the use of incorrect spray nozzles led to excessive compressed air consumption, high costs, and dissatisfaction.
Therefore, the customer inquired about switching to an alternative solution for gas cooling. After analyzing the customer-specific situation and experimenting with various spray nozzles, a high-flow compressed air atomizer was chosen. This atomizer produces smaller droplets even at high flow rates and lower pressures, unlike a single nozzle setup. Although this solution still requires air pressure, the selected SpiralAir SA significantly reduces the use of compressed air.
